The Federal Government has finally settled on a new home for the remaining Guantanamo Bay detainees, rural Illinois. While I personally have mixed feelings on the broader value of the Gitmo project, this is really the last thing I wanted to see. The possibility of trying any of the current detainees by military tribunal likely just went out the window. How many more Abdullah Salih al Ajmi’s are among the remaining Gitmo detainees about to call Thomson, IL home?
